FOREARM STRETCH

CORRECT FORM

Stand facing a table. Place the backside of your hand against a table. Gently force your wrist into flexion as shown. This will stretch the forearm extensor muscles.

Place the palm of your hand against a table. Gently force your wrist into extension as shown. This will stretch the forearm flexor muscles.

Hold for at least 30 seconds in each direction.

MUSCLES STRETCHED
Primary
Wrist Flexors
Wrist Extensors
Secondary
Anterior and posterior capsule and ligaments of the wrist

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS/PRECAUTIONS
The goal is to stretch and isolate the wrist extensors and flexors. This is especially important in racquet sports where the forearm muscles are used extensively.

You should only feel this in the forearm muscles.
You should not feel anything beyond a VERY mild stretch in the wrist joint itself. If you experience any pain in the front of the wrist, or pins/needles while stretching the wrist extensors, consult with a medical professional. This may be a sign of a nerve entrapment.
